As I taught this song to my 3-4 year olds in the school where I work, I could see their excitement, I could feel their energy, I could sense their sincerity and pure innocence, their believe and love for their country couldn't be doubted or questioned. So what happened to the older generation? At what point did we lose our hope in our beloved nation? What made the great people of this land stop working together for the common good of all? The answers are not far fetched yet not so easy to find.
However, you and I as teachers, educators, parents, leaders and people of influence, all have a vital role to play. We must stand tall and true to our calling. We must build up and not destroy. We must shine our light so bright even in the midst of darkness. We must teach the children about our past heroes and how they fought tirelessly for the freedom of our beloved country and indeed their labour was never in vain and will never be. Therefore, we must keep our hope alive. We must never give up! No, not now! It's too late to give up since we have come this far.🙏🙏💕💕🇳🇬🇳🇬
I hear a lot of negative utterances spoken about our nation. No matter how true some of these statements may seem, as educators we must never join the band wagon of pulling down our dear nation with our own words. We must be careful not to influence the younger generation with negative impressions about Nigeria. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD, a popular leader of faith in our country once made a statement of truth that "Nigeria will only be built by Nigerians." 🇳🇬🇳🇬💯💯
As teachers we must teach the younger generation to believe in themselves and in their country. To be patriotic and selfless. Live in peace and unity with all men and say no to ethnicity. Above all, they must learn to pray for Nigeria and fortunately the second stanza of our national anthem is already a prayer. This should be taken as a daily prayer for Nigeria and not merely a recitation.

Yesooooooo our negative vibes will not change the country. We have been saying nagative words since, has it help the country? If only we all can say positive things to this country for once just maybe good things will start happening in the country. Imagine u telling urself u can never make it in life. Ofcos u won't make it. Pls my fellow Nigerians, let all be positive towards our country Nigeria. God will help us all in Jesus name. Amen

ReplyDeleteThe positive vibes have really gone down drastically, but nonetheless, our children must know that it wasn't like this before. We used to have good leaders and governance.
I remember back then when I was still a child, i used to look forward to weekends, because my father will spend quality time with his children telling us about our past heroes and other historical events. He says it with so much joy and excitement.
I remember his words after these stories..." don't forget to tell your children and grandchildren these stories ooooo, they need to know"

ReplyDeleteIf only we all just wake up every morning and say GOD BLESS NIGERIA, it goes a long way to show our patriotism, loyalty to our dear country. All negative vices will not see the light of day. GOD BLESS NIGERIA
ReplyDeleteIt will be very difficult for any true Nigeria to pretend all is well in a country where citizens are divided between ethnicity and religion .
ReplyDeleteIt is only a miracle that the chords binding this once giant of Africa is still intact. As it is now all hope is in the hands of our next generation and that is if they have not been corrupted already. As they say charity begins from home. It is only normal that the restoration of this country must start from our family unit because that is where we can truly call home. now . The government as an institution has failed. The constitution is bias and one sided. The policies have become machine tools for selected few where the rich get richer. How do we correct all these abnormalities? Well, all I can say is that the educator can do something significant but the home can do far better. Every individual in the nation belongs to a family we can do it if we are ready to solve the problems from the root. Let us imbibe religion tolerance, break ethnicity barriers,teach our children to value lives and more importantly to share.
It is well with Nigeria..We should play our part by always praying for Nigeria because I believe God is still a prayer answering God.
